Journal Entry 1

25.4.2023

After long week of thinking about what game I would like to see and play ,after watching tutorials about how to make your own assets and create animations in unity (of bones of players), I came  to depression.

I had no idea, my life is failing appart, there is exam season coming which doesn't help my mental health and after a mental breakdown I had an idea. I want to create a game that will take fun, feeling depressed or sad or like life doesn't have a meaning and multiple endings. Everyone likes fun , everyone feels sadness or depression (to whom who doesn't - I'm jealous) and everyone likes different endings to feel like our choices really matter. I started the journey by creating a character - Lilly ( I even bought procreate for ipad - i guess i have to draw more now- dedication at it's finest) , at first she looked like a potato (prototype to learn how bones work and animations etc.) , now she is a black shadow walking around dark forest (as can be seen in the upper photo). The forest is an asset from unity store: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/textures-materials/nature/free-pixel-ar...

I just made the forest look more darker but we will get to the point why just now. Lilly is sad girl (I dont' want to spoil her past just yet) as she is walking around the forest ,she get's to the point when she realizes that the forest changed. Everything is dark and her thoughts are no better. She should focus on the good things to be happier...or not? Is the answer in lookin only on the good things? What about the bad ones? Aren't they connected ? You can't see the stars and the moon shine if there is only light or? Will you choose to ignore the bad things and focus only on the good one or take the balance with knowledge that not everything is perfect? Or ... are you comfortable in your own darkness?

The animations are not good to be honest, but I don't think they will aprove. With Lilly the thing is ...she is not average cartoon girl. She has been drawn by another average girl that never knew how to draw. But she is determined to get better is it works out.
